Computer Classes


We offer a wide range of hands-on technology training that will make you more confident when using computers in the library, at work, at home or when looking for a job.

  • Computer classes are free of charge.
  • Each class meets for one session.
  • Classes meet at the Main Library Computer Training Lab on the second floor.
  • Registration is required. To sign up, come by the Reference Desk or call (864) 260-4500 x126.

Come to class prepared to ask computer or other related electronic device questions. Learn how to use your computer, phone, or tablet more efficiently with one-on-one hands-on help. Ask questions and get answers about Computer Basics, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Publisher. Get help with other electronic devices as well!

This class is limited to 10 students.

Prerequisite – Basic Mouse, Basic Computer/Internet Skills, and Basic MS Word Skills

Become familiar with the basic functions and ribbons in the Microsoft Word program. Practice the basic skills of the program including editing templates, selecting and formatting text, cutting/copying/pasting text and saving documents.

Completion of MS Word Basics or permission of the instructor is required to take this class. Limited to 12 students.

New computer users! Unravel the mystery of computers as you learn about the parts, the difference between hardware and software, what an operating system is and how to create and store files. Dive into the World Wide Web using Google Chrome or Internet Explorer to perform simple searches and find websites. Learn how to navigate the web and evaluate site content. Get basic online etiquette and Internet safety tips.
