Volunteering at the library is a very pleasant and rewarding experience. To volunteer you must be 18 or older, be able to work a cash register, and communicate well with other people. Our volunteers enjoy working in the Friends Cafe and Book Store at the Main library as well as sorting through donated books in the workroom. The proceeds from the sales allow the Friends of the Anderson County Library to provide funding for online databases and other services, materials the library can’t always afford, and special events. If interested in volunteering, come by the Main Library and pick up an application in the Administrative Office, the Friends Cafe or the Friends Book Store.
The Anderson County Library enriches every facet of our community. It is the intellectual center supporting everyone with tools, knowledge and resources critical for education, entertainment, and research. The library provides a place to gather, collaborate, and share knowledge.
Gifts of many types can help the Library meet its mission in support of the our community. Gifts to the Library provide flexible support for expanded access to books, magazines, eBooks, digital audiobooks, digital magazines, databases, programs and more. It supports the technology and tools necessary to enrich the learning and research environment.
We always welcome used books and media items. The library gratefully accepts donations of the following items in good condition:
- Audiobooks on CD
- Music CDs
Donations may be dropped off at the Main Library or any branch library’s front desk.
If you wish to donate a new book or books for the Main Library or a branch library in memory or in honor of an individual, please contact the Community Services coordinator. Bookplates are placed in each donated volume. We’ll send you an acknowledgment letter for your gift, and we’ll notify your honoree or designated family member of your thoughtfulness.
