Grown-ups, this one’s for you! 

Join our NEW year-long adult reading challenge and put 10 more books on your    ‘I read that!’ list. Throughout the 2025 challenge, we’ll be hosting fun events to connect you with other Chapter Chasers as you make your way through the themes. Seriously, what’s better than hanging out with fellow bookworms? We’ve put together 12 reading themes that offer something for everyone – read books from 10 of the 12, and you’re a finisher! 

Get Started:

Fill out our super-quick form, and you’re in! Then head to your local branch to pick up your starter kit, available beginning January 1, 2025. Your starter kit includes a Chapter Chasers tracking bookmark and a fun sticker. 

The challenge "officially" starts on January 1, but don’t worry if you get started late! Any book you read in 2025 that fits a challenge theme counts.  

We hope to see you at our Chapter Chasers Kick-off Event on January 26 at the Anderson Main Library. 

Participating is super easy!

1. Fill out our online entry form, then pick up your starter kit at your nearest library location.
    
2. Read one book each in 10 of the 12 possible themes, for a total of 10 books. Ebook? Yep. Audiobook? Yep. Whatever reading method works for you! Each book counts for only one theme.
    
3. Track the books you read on the Chapter Chasers bookmark. Complete 10 themes by December 1 to complete the challenge. You’ll earn a fabulous completion prize and be entered into the grand prize drawing! Finish all 12 and get a bonus entry!
    
4. Snap a picture of your completed bookmark and email it to adultprograms@andersonlibrary.org, or turn your bookmark in at your local branch. 
    
5. Pat yourself on the back – You’re a reading superstar!
    

Optional: As you complete each theme, head to your local branch to have your bookmark punched and pick up a bit of library swag. It’s our way of saying ‘Woo hoo! Read on!’ 
 

Optional: Watch for Chapter Chasers events during the year, and join us for our completion party in December 2025.

4. Armchair Travels

Embark on a reading journey to another country without leaving your seat.

5. Color Our World

Bring a splash of color to your life with a book about art or an artist.

6. Quick Reads

Zip through a book that has fewer than 200 pages, a book of poetry, or a graphic novel.

7. Branching Out

Go outside your comfort zone and explore an unfamiliar genre.

8. Strength in Differences

Celebrate beauty in diversity, whether it’s through characters, themes, or perspectives.

9. Horribly Entertaining

Investigate a mystery, true crime, or horror book.

10. Indigenous Voices

Read a book by an Indigenous author from North America or another part of the world.

11. Action!

Tune in to a book that inspired a film or television series.

12. Home Grown

Celebrate South Carolina! Read a book by a South Carolina author or a book set in or about our beautiful state.
