Program Description

Event Details

Ann Marie Pauley from ACSWCD will spill the tea on making tea with native plants. Learn what native plants are safe to make tea from, common methods of making tea, the benefits and potential risks of herbal teas, and discover the history of a plant known as "vomit tea." We will also taste some tea of our own.

Disclaimer from ACSWCD: While herbal teas have plenty of benefits, some herbal teas can interfere with medications or be harmful to certain people. Persons taking blood thinners, birth control, antidepressants, anticoagulants, diuretics, and/or medication for bipolarism or diabetes should be aware that some herbal teas may lessen the effectiveness of these medications. People who have allergies to hollies, roses, pines, or any closely related plants should be aware that they may have an allergic reaction to drinking teas made from these plants. Many herbal teas can be harmful to women who are pregnant or breastfeeding. If you fall into one of these categories, please check with your doctor before consuming herbal teas either at this program or through knowledge gained at this program.
