Director's Corner: a Word from Annie

One thing I love about my office is that I have a window that looks out over the parking lot, and I get to see people of all ages coming into the building on the daily. My favorite are the parents with little children hopping, skipping, and jumping with their books into the building. Makes my day! I look at data and statistics, but it’s nice to physically see our patrons enjoying the Library.

I presented 5 year statistics at our recent board meeting, and I am so excited to share that the Anderson County Library numbers look fantastic. Just like everyone else, Covid hit the Library hard, and we have been in a recovery phase since. However, I’m pleased to say that comparing FY 19-20 and FY 23-24 shows trends of moving beyond recovery. The Library has seen increases in almost every
area, including circulation of physical and digital materials, library card holders, and attendance. Just in the last year we’ve had an almost 30% increase in the amount of visitors and items being checked out!

All this is to say thank you! Thank you for using the Library’s physical and digital resources. Thank you for coming to our buildings to attend meetings, programs and just to hang out. Your support is important for our community. It’s important to the Library, and it’s important to me Personally!
