“Whatever kind of ambition it took to do what you did around here, this world could use a lot more of it” – Carol Boone, Remember the Titans
June is the kickoff of our Summer Reading challenge, focused on being "all together, now!" and celebrating unity, friendship, and kindness.
Join us for a trip back in time to the true story of courage, leadership, and friendship, as Black head coach, Herman Boone, takes over a newly desegregated football team at T.C. Williams High School in Alexandria, VA. Training camp causes conflicts between the Black and white team members. Coaches are manipulated and bribed. Games are rigged. Motivational speeches are given. Sides are taken between communities, team members, and coaches.
Can the team come together and put their differences aside to honor friendship, unity, and kindness? Find out at this showing of Remember the Titans, rated PG for mild violence and some racially-charged language.
Bring a water bottle and your favorite movie snack (nothing messy, please!) and enjoy a free movie night.
Parents are required to stay in the library during the program but do not have to stay in the room (unless they want to!)
